Feeling gratitude at work: 5 reminders that can instantly help

I was a stay at home mom for many years but in 2022, I had to go back to work part time while my husband stays with the kids due to medical problems (he also collects a retirement check monthly, hence the part time work for me). It has been challenging for a number of reasons, but I’m always trying to be positive, so I made a list of reminders so I can feel gratitude instead of annoyance.

  1. Remember how you felt before you got the job. You needed it, and you wanted it! You went to an interview and pictured yourself as a future employee. You pursued getting this job.
  2. Think of the amount of people who apply for jobs like yours every day, and how thankful they would be if they had the opportunity to work there.
  3. Remember that you are safe, comfortable, paid fairly, and treated respectfully. Many jobs around the world do not meet these criteria.
  4. Keep in mind that the job provides the opportunity to be social; I get to spend time with co-workers and even bosses whom I can (at least to a point) enjoy getting to know.
  5. Focus on being a blessing to anyone you come in contact with. How can you improve their day? How can you encourage or help them? We’re given plenty of opportunities every shift to have a positive impact in our communities.

Are there other ways you show gratitude for a job that would otherwise seem monotonous? Please share your thoughts!

      1. I’m sure πŸ˜‚ I was gonna think of a few mindset shifts to add but I drew a blank. It takes a different way of thinking haha
